Hi, I have a problem with a MY Passport USB 30 which contains a WD5000BMVW-11AMCSO This drive on first appraisal was not spinning up but the PCB was receiving power (led on) I acquired a replacement PCB from HDDZONE (2060-771737-000) rev P1 and was advised that the serial ROM for the SYMWAVE at U8 and the serial ROM for the firmware at U12 would need swapping I tried the replacement PCB just to see if the drive did spin up and this was successful I then got U8 and U12 chips

Seem to be overrun by these type of drives recently. I have a WD10TMVW thats very slow to respond. It has board board 2060-771737-00 (image attached). I have a matching SATA board 2060-771820-000 Controller number) and have swapped the U12 chip. The drive does not spin up, but the board comes RDY and I can see the ROM information to presume the ROM swap worked. Any advice.

I have a WD10TMVW with the above USB board. The matching guide says 771692 is a match, but the ROM is not the same size. Clients ROM is 512, ROM on board is 256. Physically swapping the ROM does not work. I see some people recommend 701692 for the 512 ROM, but from what I can see they are not commercially available.Any ideas of a board that will work?
